Immolation – Close to a World Below

I’d have to say at this point in my life Immolation is my favorite band, so it’s pretty sweet to finally get a copy of this on vinyl. Immolation stuff is really hard to track down so I was lucky to find this at a good price online. I also had a PayPal “giftcard” that was given to me by PayPal for an unknown reason, so that made it even better. This was released on Metal Blade in 2000.

Sepultura – Beneath the Remains

This weekend I’ve added another classic death metal album to my collection.  It’s hard to believe someone would sell this for a few bucks to the local record shop, but I love them for it nonetheless. This is the original pressing on RoadRacer Records (RoadRunner Imprint) from 1989, catalog number RC-9511. It’s not in perfect condition but it still plays perfectly and has yet to leave my record player. The best part is I didn’t even pay $20 for it.

Baphomet – The Dead Shall Inherit

Classic death metal albums are always what I’m looking to find and South Florida is a great hot spot for them. Even better is when it’s an album I’m actively looking for. Just a few weekends ago this gem landed in the used metal bin of my favorite local record store. Not only is this a classic and completely under-appreciated album, it is in seriously perfect condition. Baphomet came out of the Buffalo scene along with Cannibal Corpse & Malevolent Creation among others. They didn’t have the sustained careers of those bands but they still put out a classic album and looked awesome doing it (check out the inner sleeve photos). This is from 1992 on Peaceville records, catalog number Vile31. This was a great find at a tasty price.
